About Clare

Clare is an artist-practitioner that deals with specific areas of the intersections between art and architecture. Areas explored centre on the topic of spatial practice within the field of domesticity, objects, home culture, memory and identity. The projects can be sparked by specific and sometimes usual forgotten histories, place, stories or events.

Clare’s current practice explores human relationships within the field of constructed space combined with the social, looking at past times and future thinking and the alignment with social and political contexts. The projects shown under MA Art & Design deal with this topics.

Clare uses a variety of processes and methodologies in her art including drawing, painting, photography, physical crafted scaled installations, auto-ethnographic research and sound.

Clare was born and grew up in Leicester. Being creative and artistic has been a passion of for Clare from a very young age. She was privileged to be introduced to oil painting at junior school by a enthusiastic art teacher. After sixth form, Clare attended art college to study a foundation course at Loughborough College of Art & Design. Clare then went on to study a BA Hons degree in 3-D design/Interior design at Brighton Polytechnic. Further studies later in life concluded with a BA Hons Degree and PG Diploma in Architecture and with part 3 Professional Practice , Clare qualified as an Architect in 2009. Her post graduate diploma theoretical project  ‘Seaside Rendez-Vous’ received a commendation and and won the Kinetic Innovation Post Graduate Architecture 2009 student prize. After many years as a practicing Architect Clare has now turned her attention to academia and has recently graduated with distinction on the MA in Art & Design: Interdisciplinary Practices course at Birmingham City University. During her time at University Clare was a PG Academic Mentor for students in the Art, Design and Media Faculty.
